And ...As a cat-owner I completely understand this. And you also have to take into consideration that giving up the cats could be bad for your mental health, especially if your relationship with them is very important to you. Pets can provide comfort, companionship, a reason to get up in the morning -- and losing them suddenly could cause you a great deal of distress. So giving up the cats isn't necessarily "putting yourself first." Only you can know what will ultimately be best for you.

I hope that your teacher decides to let you bring the cats, or that you can find a local friend to take them temporarily.Di Dihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15274019230847716596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8402549770293124368.post-73826450272411683692010-04-12T20:18:13.423-05:002010-04-12T20:18:13.423-05:00I'm going to echo the above regarding trying t...I'm going to echo the above regarding trying to rehome the cats if they cannot come with you. I think there are many non-pound options. Rehoming a mature, well-behaved cat would not be impossible, especially with the extensive network of people you have who I'm sure would be willing to help you accomplish this. Also, with rehoming the cats, you'd be cutting another recurring expense, which doesn't sound like it would be a bad thing. I absolutely understand that you love and are loyal to your pets, but sometimes giving something up in a responsible way is ok.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8402549770293124368.post-39017382323217950382010-04-11T23:23:40.584-05:002010-04-11T23:23:40.584-05:00Have you talked to them about the kitties?Have you talked to them about the kitties?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8402549770293124368.post-62017546196115333062010-04-11T12:17:01.016-05:002010-04-11T12:17:01.016-05:00Heidi, I've been a long time reader, and befor...Heidi, I've been a long time reader, and before I deleted myspace we were friends on there. I never comment because my opinion does not matter whatsoever. This is your life, and you get to choose how to live it, as I live mine. I have no ill-will against you, and I support you in fact. I just want you to re-consider the no cat situation. You are always writing about how you want to improve yourself by thinking more about your well-being instead of others, and this is that exact moment where you can do it. I love, love, love animals too, but if it came down to me versus them, it would always be 100% me. You need this, you don't have anywhere else to go and if they don't want your animals then maybe it's time to adopt them out, or give them to someone who will take care of them. Do not let that be a dealbreaker girl, you are much better than being homeless because of your cats. I wish you luck with this! I had a similar situation where I needed to find an apartment I could afford and have my dog, Chico or move back to Wisconsin to live with my parents for a while. I couldn't find an apartment that allowed pets that I could afford on my own at the time so I hightailed it back to Wisco and suffered through living with my parents for a few months. Also I feel the same way about traveling, but many times feel poor and tied down in so many ways.

Maybe you could find a friend to take care of your cats for a couple months till you get on your feet?

AlsoJody Sternhagenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01799748371811572807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8402549770293124368.post-24208234334248017092010-04-10T22:00:57.803-05:002010-04-10T22:00:57.803-05:00E-mailing you right now honeyE-mailing you right now honeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12501589803780829128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8402549770293124368.post-11892437406349151372010-04-10T16:27:10.609-05:002010-04-10T16:27:10.609-05:00Can you find someone to keep your cats for you whi...Can you find someone to keep your cats for you while you're living with your teacher?
