  1. I don't know when, timewise, I started reading you, but I know I found you through that shapely prose post you did.

  4. I really don't remember when I started reading; sometime before your dad passed. I have to say that in listening to you, over the years, this move has seemed to be the best thing you've done for yourself, ever.
You sound alive in a way I don't recall.

I'm sending you all the 'live life' vibes I can spare! :-)

  7. I honestly don't remember how long I've been reading your blog, but it was long enough ago that your bypass surgery was somewhat new, and there had been that internet FUROR and brouhaha over the amazing, rawly honest account you wrote online of what it had been like to be the size you were prior to surgery - and that's how I found you: from the references that friends on LJ made to how horribly the fat-haters were fat-hating you. I was totally drawn in -- you were my HERO for writing what you'd written, and for living as honestly and openly as you were (and still do)!

I never, ever tire of hearing you talk about how you manage to overcome the shame that our culture throws at us for not conforming to a norm, and how you accomplish what you do, and motivate yourself to stay social, sane, active, happy...how you manage to keep going, every single day. I am beaten down by the messages I get from the world and by the ways I feel I've failed so much, so often, so ferociously, and I can't seem to figure out how to overcome that most of the time. I really like hearing how other people have learned resilience, because I want somma that.
