I’ve been watching season one of Battlestar Galactica. Good stuff!
So the hospital bill for my mom? Not including doctor’s bills, lab work, or tests? $70,000. Bahahahahaha! Good lord. I…I…I don’t even know what to say to that. It’s just reached epic levels of hilarity. I also owe another hospital a few thousand for my gynecological surgery. I’m just pretending none of it exists because I don’t have any other option right now. My financial motto, at the moment? “Eh, fuck it.”
My damn flickr pro account expired. Rawr. I can’t access 99% of my photos, which is really irritating.
I can’t pay my rent this month. Once I paid my insurance and bought some groceries yesterday, I was left with $75 to get me through to the 18th. Yikes.
Oh my god, I cannot wait to get my shit back in order. Ugh, I’m so sick of chaos and fear.
In other news: I’m weirdly addicted to anchovies in olive oil. All I ever want to eat these days are those and cereal. I have no idea. Not at the same time, I should point out.

I hope somebody from the hospital has told you that you will not be held responsible for your mom's medical bills! We had to give the hospital/nursing home/hospice my mom's social security check but that was it. That's the last worry you need.

Last year I was strolling down the street when some jackass hipster reamed me with his Vespa, breaking my leg. It got infected and required surgery and a hospital stay of a full week, and I had no insurance. The bill was 38K, and literally all I had to do to have it waived entirely was to explain to the account dept that I had no money and no way of paying it back, and prove it with copies of my unemployment checks and bank account balance. I also know two people who had their payment reduced by 80-90%--one of them was actually approached by hospital staff in the hallway of a courtroom where he was being sued for nonpayment and asked if he would be able to pay off $900 of it.
